iPad Menus Play at Winning Tables in Monte Carlo and Las Vegas2 min read

Guests at Le Blue Bay gourmet restaurant in the impressive ten-acre, four-star Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort in the Principality of Monaco, can now use iPad menus to discover Chef Marcel Ravin’s unique and innovative Mediterranean cuisine and navigate the wine list prepared by head sommelier Gérard Veyrat De Lachena. Like the legendary and prestigious Casino de Monte-Carlo, where “European (or French) roulette won its letters of nobility in Monte-Carlo as from 1863,” the restaurant and hotel are operated by Monaco’s famed resort Monte-Carlo SBM (Société des Bains de Mer). The iPad digital menus, which were introduced in late June, have become a much anticipated part of the relaxed sophistication of the guest experience at Le Blue Bay.

Back across the ‘pond,’ iPad menus are also in play at a number of the best restaurants in hotels and casinos on the famous Las Vegas Strip, notably at Andre’s Restaurant & Lounge, the elegant AAA Four Diamond French restaurant at the Monte Carlo Hotel & Casino, where Celebrity Chef André Rochat brings an exquisite modern interpretation to traditional French cuisine; Alizé, the chef-proprietor’s AAA Four Diamond fine dining restaurant at the Top of the Palms, considered to be the “crown jewel of his culinary empire”; CUT, Master Chef Wolfgang Puck’s AAA Four Diamond, super-chic steakhouse at The Palazzo; and Jaleo, Chef José Andrés’ award-winning Spanish tapas restaurant at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Patrick Trundle, beverage director for both Andre’s and Alizé, says he believes the iPad menus enhance the guest experience. Guests at Andre’s and Alizé can easily browse the restaurant’s entire extensive wine collection of legendary vintages and new world labels; search by color, type, varietal, name, region, or price; find the sommelier’s recommended food/wine pairings; learn about a specific vineyard, view labels, and even send themselves an email of their selection – all right from their iPad digital menu.

Two more restaurants may soon be joining the elite club. According to reports last week by VegasInc, there has been inside scuttlebutt suggesting that Caesars Entertainment and MGM Resorts may soon be adding iPad digital menus to restaurants at their properties as well. With iPad menus playing well at all the winning tables, it’s a pretty safe bet they will.
