iPad Menu: a Palette for Culinary Art and Fine Wine at Le Chef2 min read
Metropark Hotel Wanchai Hong Kong recently announced the completion of the HK$500,000 remodel of its casual, on-site restaurant, Le Chef, and the introduction of the iPad menu to the restaurant. The grand opening celebration continues through September 8th.
Le Chef’s new contemporary design is a stunning canvas for Senior Sous Chef Rick Kwan’s inventive “fusion” cuisine and the collection of six exclusive wine labels chosen by award-winning sommelier, Eric Kwok, to complement them. The signature dishes and fine wine pairings are presented to guests in tantalizing, mouthwatering, high-resolution color on an iPad menu.
East and West come together as Chef Kwan blends the flavors of traditional Asian and Western European dishes in a truly “global cuisine.” The iPad menu is a perfect palette for Chef Kwan’s culinary artistry. The photo of each exquisite dish on the iPad menu is so life-like it evokes memories of tastes and flavors. If Le Chef’s guests were not hungry before they sat down, they will be hungry once their eyes have sampled Chef Kwan’s offerings. The iPad menu also introduces guests to each of the labels in Le Chef’s custom-tailored wine-cellar collection: Casablanca Sparkling Brut, Two Tails Sauvignon Blanc 2008, Belgravia “The Apex” Chardonnay 2008, Ferngrove Symbols Shiraz Viognier 2007, Comte d’A 2007, and Tamaya Late Harvest Sweet Goat 2009. The six wines are available exclusively at Le Chef.
On the last Friday of each month, Kwok will host a wine paring dinner. The dinner will feature a selection of fine wines, hand-selected by the sommelier to complement a new culinary art piece created by Chef Kwan. The monthly wine paring dinner will be featured on the iPad menu; the social event will help Le Chef connect with local residents as well as catering to its international guests.
The iPad menu will also provide guests with information on the restaurant, the hotel, and the surrounding Wanchai area. Metropark Hotel Wanchai Hong Kong is in the center of Hong Kong’s upscale Wanchai (“small bay”) district. Evan Chiu, General Manager of the four-star hotel, sees Le Chef as “a significant addition to the Wanchai dining scene.”
