The iPad Restaurant Menu is Transforming the Dining Experience at JFK and LaGuardia Airports2 min read
When you think about where to go for gourmet food, the airport is probably one of the last places that would come to mind! But, starting last November, one of the most innovative and exciting moves yet to improve air travel was introduced at Delta airline terminals at John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports in New York City. Tables at Delta terminals are now equipped with a sleek iPad restaurant menu that enables travelers to select from a wide assortment of gourmet fare prepared by celebrity chefs, and order their meal right at the gate. Whether they are in the mood for crepes, longing for an exquisite Panini or brochette, or have a taste for a fine European beer or a really good wine, the new tableside iPad restaurant menu is transforming the travel experience for passengers at New York’s airports.
In a recent interview with columnist Melanie Kaplan of Smart Planet, Rick Blatstein, CEO of award-winning airport restaurateur, OTG Management, the company behind the redesign, said, “Customers have embraced the iPad ordering immediately, like they’ve done it forever.” Blatstein says the iPad restaurant menu is “a large part of our customer service.” So much so that the company sees the iPad restaurant menu as a key member of their staff – it’s like having “an additional OTG crew member.” The iPad restaurant menu is exactly what their customers wanted: they can order their food or beverage directly on the iPad restaurant menu and have a server deliver it right to their table – all without having to stand in line or leave the gate!
The installation of the iPad restaurant menu at gate-side tables is part of the renovation of Delta terminals at both major New York City airports. If Blatstein has his way, the iPad restaurant menu will soon be wowing travelers at other airports, too. The perfect marriage of iPad restaurant menu to OTG’s new seating design and upscale culinary offerings has enabled OTG to truly reinvent airport dining.
